I know I haven’t been posting for a minute…buuuuut
that’s because I’ve been trying to get my shit together in life (as many people my age are), but I had to write this post on a whim because I hate hypocrisy and I have to call it like I see it.
Late last night, Champagne Papi, a.k.a Aubrey “Drake” Graham, dropped a new song along with a video called ‘Nice for What.’ I was curious to know when homeboy was gonna release new music and it finally came in the form of a fuckton of female empowerment.
The video featured some seriously impactful women in entertainment including Issa Rae, Olivia Wilde, Emma Roberts, Jordan Dunn and many more influential females.
It came as no shock to me that Drake would utilize the female image to add to his portfolio as he’s almost always rap-sang lyrics about women he loves, is trippin’ over, or just losing his shit for the sake of coochie entirely.
As I was watching the video with my sister, we were hyped to see that the female celebrities who were represented in the video were all of different races, ages and sexual orientations. That’s the way to do it nowadays since everyone doesn’t look the same despite how women in media are marketed to us regular degualar schmegular women consuming it.
that’s where the representation of women ended, and I found myself awaiting the moment when a big girl would appear on my computer screen. But the moment of relief of seeing a woman of my stature and size never came. So, I was left unsatisfied. I couldn’t help but be a tad bit floored at the fact that a thicker woman never came to fruition in the video as I recall Drake mentioning his “type” of woman in other songs.

The ‘Nice for What’ video failed to exhibit any woman over a size 10 let alone a BBW—which as Drake so blatantly put it in Nicki Minaj’s ‘Only’ video that he’s obsessed with thick women (please see 2:45 in the vid) and “they the type to suck you dry and then eat some lunch wit chu.”
I can’t deny that that’s completely true in my experience with men who are worth my time, but I was utterly stunned that not one single curvy woman—like not even my girl Ashley Graham was seen in Nice for What. Shit, he could have even thrown Kylie’s bestie, Jordyn (with a “Y”) Woods in that bitch, and I think her modeling is subpar to say the least.
Love me, hate me, whatever. But don’t tell me it’s not just a little bit fishy that my guy was solely “inspired” by women who could ride him hard without breaking the bed. Then again, if she’s not putting it down on you like that, why bother?
