Instagram’s The Zine Spring ’22
Challenge: Show how Instagram is the best destination to discover new and emerging fashion and beauty trends
Creative Execution: Utilizing internal ERGs for insights, our teams pulled data on trends and the creators behind them as the comms team worked to package them up into a digital in-app zine. With the goal of pitching it to top editors, we tapped Lori Harvey to be the Zine Cover Star and it serves as a trend forecast for what’s next in fashion and beauty on Instagram. Coverage of The Zine landed in The Cut, Nylon, Interview Magazine, The Zoe Report, POPSUGAR, Blavity, Black America Web, and Highxtar.
Instagram Black History Month 2022
Challenge: Show how Instagram is and has been a destination for Black Creators, Artists and Talents
Creative Execution: Instagram commissioned Afro-Surrealist Alim Smith (@yesterdaynite) to create 25 oil-on-canvas paintings highlighting some of the most viral Black memes to exist on the platform. Coupled with an LA-based event viewing of the portraits titled “In Living Color: A Celebration of Black Joy through Laughter and Love” and an announcement blog post, the campaign and Smith landed coverage in outlets including Complex, Mic, The Source, OkayPlayer and, GlobalGrind, The Root.
