Do you ever happen to notice how…
you pass up all the cute patterned pieces when shopping? Well, please stop and listen ladies.
I’ve always been told that patterns weren’t “right for me” or they’re “too distracting”. Of course it was only other insecure people who hate their bodies telling me this since I’m a bigger girl, but the idea that patterns don’t look good on us is a horseshit myth.
Patterns can look stupid on anyone
Firstly, if a pattern you’ve peeped isn’t constructed right for a woman’s body type, it’s just a horrid article of clothing in general. Patterns (for me anyway) work best when you balance it out with a solid. Think of how tacky all the girls on campus looked with those Aztec Geo print leggings with a different Aztec patterned blouse to “complement” them. It. doesn’t. Work.
I’m wearing freakin’ lighting bolts on my shirt here, but I paired it with an all black jumper dress. That’s balance. However, that doesn’t mean your pattern can’t or shouldn’t be the star-studded piece of your ootd. If my jumper dress was some floral design and my shirt was basic black, it still works. So don’t be afraid to buy the bold pieces. Mix and match your solids and stripes because it’s the contrast of killer construction and color that makes your look Instagram-worthy.
But please burn those Geo print leggings, girl. It’s just making my eyes bleed, and I want you to look flawless.
Have you ever found a bold print you thought would make you look bigger? Did you buy it? Tell me it looks dope on you in the comments.
